Embedded and Mobile Apllications Development - Cooperation Nokia/UFCG

  • Description: This project aims to develop a set of courses and applications in the context of software development for mobile devices. Students from the previous Nokia/UFCG cooperation program are now lecturers of new students. Related technologies include: multimedia for mobile devices, Python, C++ Symbian, Flash Lite, and J2ME. The target platforms are mainly Nokia 770/Maemo and Symbian series 60 devices.

J2ME, Symbian, and Open Mobile Alliance - Cooperation Nokia/UFCG

  • Description: Technological research cooperation program between Nokia and the Electrical Engineering Department with the collaboration of the Computer Science Department, Federal University of Campina Grande, aiming at the development and diffusion of knowledge related to J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition), Symbian operating system and OMA (Open Mobile Alliance). The J2ME platform implements the Java language for devices with low memory and processing resources, such as cellular phones. Symbian is a company that licenses the Symbian operating system for the largest mobile phone companies in the world, such as, Nokia, Ericsson, Panasonic, Psion, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson. Symbian is an open multitasking operating system that is a standard for cellular phone software development. It has been developed for wireless devices as well as devices with low resources. The OMA (Open Mobile Alliance) 200 companies including the world’s leading mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies and content and service providers. OMA makes available different standards to the development of mobile services.
